Chapter 19 - BELLAMY’S OFFERArthur Bellamy contacted me.

Not Dorian.
Me.
His message contained an address and one sentence.
YOUR FATHER WAS NOT WHO YOU THINK.
I showed Dorian immediately.
No more secrets.
Reed traced the message.
Impossible.
Bellamy knew what he was doing.
Then another arrived.
A photograph.
My father holding me as a baby.
Standing beside Bellamy.
I felt sick.
We found the original in my father’s attic.
Behind it he had written:
ARTHUR — NEVER TRUST HIM AGAIN.
That one word mattered.
Again.
My father had trusted Bellamy once.
We searched deeper.
Behind the attic wall, Reed found a cassette tape.
My father’s voice.
Recorded in 2004.
He described helping Bellamy build corruption cases against Vincent Cross.
Then discovering Bellamy was manufacturing evidence against innocent people to increase conviction rates while secretly protecting criminals who paid him.
My father confronted him.
Bellamy threatened me.
I had been eight.
That was why Dad disappeared from that world.
Not cowardice.
Fatherhood.
The tape ended with:
“If anything happens to me, Arthur Bellamy will make it look natural.”
My father died nine years later.
Pancreatic cancer.
Documented.
Real.
Bellamy had not killed him.
That mattered.
Not every tragedy was murder.
May you like
But Bellamy had threatened him.
And that was enough.
