Chapter 15 - THE GREAT BED WARThe argument began at 2:13 a.m.

“Move.”
“I haven't moved.”
“Exactly.”
James opened one eye.
Grace was staring at him.
“What?”
“You're on my side.”
“This is my bed.”
“Not anymore.”
James looked around his own bedroom.
“I bought this bed.”
Grace pulled the blanket.
“And now I'm sleeping in it.”
“You have seventy percent.”
“I need eighty.”
“Why?”
“Woman reasons.”
“That isn't mathematics.”
Grace kicked him.
James caught her ankle.
“Violence?”
“Self-defense.”
“You attacked me.”
“You invaded Poland.”
“What?”
“My side of the bed.”
James laughed.
Grace tried not to.
Failed.
Five minutes later they had drawn an imaginary border using pillows.
At 3:04 a.m., Grace woke up completely wrapped around James.
Her head was on his chest.
Her leg was across his hips.
James was awake.
She looked at him.
He looked at her.
Neither spoke.
Then James whispered,
May you like
“Poland has fallen.”
Grace hit him with a pillow.
