Chapter 15 - The Sister Vivian Never KnewThe woman standing beside the black sedan looked like Vivian.

Not exactly.

But enough.

Same eyes.

Same chin.

Same way of holding tension in her shoulders.

“My name is Mara.”

Vivian waited.

Mara’s eyes filled.

“Sofia Bellini was my mother.”

The world tilted.

Vivian laughed once, without humor.

“No.”

Mara handed her a photograph.

Sofia stood beside a newborn baby.

Vivian stared.

“You’re my sister?”

“Half-sister.”

Sofia had entered federal witness protection after escaping Carlo’s network.

She was pregnant when she vanished.

The father was not Anthony.

He was a federal investigator named Daniel Mercer—the agent helping Anthony expose Carlo.

Carlo discovered Mercer’s identity and murdered him before Mara was born.

Sofia believed returning for Vivian would expose both daughters.

So she stayed dead.

Vivian’s grief became anger.

“She abandoned me.”

Mara did not defend her.

“Yes.”

Lorenzo remained silent.

He understood complicated parents too well.

Mara had come because Sofia left instructions: if Anthony’s archive resurfaced, someone had found the final missing evidence.

“What evidence?” Lorenzo asked.

“Proof that Carlo wasn’t the highest person involved.”

Lorenzo’s expression changed.

“Who was?”

“I don’t know.”

“But my mother did.”

Mara opened her trunk.

Inside were six sealed boxes.

Sofia’s journals.

Mara stopped Vivian before she reached for them.

“There’s something you should know.”

“What?”

“Your mother followed your life from a distance.”

Vivian’s face hardened.

“She knew when you married Lorenzo.”

Silence.

“She knew when he hurt you.”

Lorenzo looked down.

“And she knew when you disappeared.”

Vivian’s eyes narrowed.

“How?”

Mara swallowed.

“Because the person who helped Rosa get you out of the Falcone estate wasn’t Elena.”

May you like

Vivian went still.

“It was Sofia.”
