Chapter 9 - THE LAST KINGDOM
The recording went public.
Richard's empire collapsed overnight.
Banks froze his accounts.
Federal investigators moved in.
Mafia families abandoned him.
But Richard escaped.
He took Victoria hostage.
Then called Evelyn.
“You want your mother’s truth?”
Evelyn's face went pale.
“She isn't alive.”
Richard laughed.
“Your mother isn't the woman you think she was.”
Evelyn demanded:
“Where are you?”
“Come alone.”
Dante immediately refused.
“No.”
Evelyn looked at him.
“If I don't go, he kills Victoria.”
Julian stopped her.
“You're walking into a trap.”
“I know.”
Dante took her hand.
“Then I'm going with you.”
“No.”
“Evelyn.”
She looked into his eyes.
“I don't know if I can forgive you.”
“I know.”
“But I don't want you to die.”
Dante smiled faintly.
“That's enough.”
They went together.
At the old estate, Richard waited.
Victoria was tied to a chair.
Richard raised a gun.
“You ruined everything.”
Evelyn stepped forward.
“You ruined yourself.”
Richard laughed.
“You think Dante loves you?”
Dante stepped beside her.
“I don't think.”
He looked at Evelyn.
“I know.”
Richard fired.
Dante pushed Evelyn aside.
The bullet struck his shoulder.
Evelyn screamed.
Dante remained standing.
His men stormed the room.
Richard tried to escape.
Julian blocked the door.
“You should have killed me when you had the chance.”
Richard stared at him.
“You're my son.”
Julian shook his head.
“No.”
He pointed at Evelyn.
“She's my sister.”
Then the police arrived.
Richard was arrested.
The Sterling empire was finished.
