Chapter 5 - THE ACCIDENT WASN'T AN ACCIDENT

Julian had recovered enough to walk.
He secretly met Dante.
Evelyn was brought there too.
Julian looked at her for a long time.
“You shouldn't have left.”
She frowned.
“What do you mean?”
Julian handed her a file.
Inside were photographs of the accident.
“The brakes were cut.”
Evelyn's face went pale.
“Who did it?”
Julian shook his head.
“I don't know.”
Dante opened another file.
A payment trail.
Money had been transferred from a Sterling account to an offshore company.
Evelyn looked at her father’s signature.
“This can't be.”
Julian's voice was cold.
“Our father ordered the accident.”
Richard had wanted Julian gone.
Because Julian had discovered something.
The Sterling empire wasn't built entirely on legitimate business.
It had been secretly financing rival mafia families.
And Julian had planned to expose him.
But there was another name in the files.
Victoria Sterling.
Vivian's mother.
She had helped Richard.
Evelyn felt sick.
“Why would they kill Julian?”
Julian looked at her.
“Because I found out who our mother really was.”
Evelyn froze.
“My mother?”
“No.”
He pointed to Victoria.
“She isn't Vivian's biological mother.”
Everyone fell silent.
Then Julian added:
“And Vivian isn't Richard's biological daughter.”
Evelyn stared at him.
“What?”
Before Julian could explain, a gunshot cracked through the room.
The window exploded.
Julian dropped.
Dante grabbed Evelyn.
“Get down!”
Another shot.
Then another.
Dante's men returned fire.
When the room finally went silent…
Julian was bleeding.
May you like
And on the wall behind him was a single message.
STOP DIGGING.
