Chapter 7 - THE WAR OF TWO FAMILIES

Within hours, New York changed.

Sterling assets were frozen.

Moretti warehouses were attacked.

Cars exploded.

Men disappeared.

The city became a battlefield.

Dante wanted to strike first.

Evelyn stopped him.

“No.”

He stared at her.

“They attacked us.”

“They want you to attack.”

She pointed at the documents.

“This is exactly what my father wants.”

Julian nodded.

“He's trying to destroy both families.”

Dante understood.

Richard wasn't choosing sides.

He was creating chaos so he could take control afterward.

Then Vivian arrived.

She was crying.

“I know where he is.”

Dante looked at her.

“Where?”

“The old Sterling estate.”

Evelyn stared at her sister.

“Why help us?”

Vivian swallowed.

“Because I finally realized the truth.”

She looked at Evelyn.

“You were never my enemy.”

Evelyn said nothing.

Vivian handed Dante a key.

“He keeps the original records in the basement.”

Dante took it.

Then Vivian whispered:

“He also has your mother’s final letter.”

Evelyn froze.

“My mother is dead.”

“I know.”

“But the letter was written for you.”

That night, Dante, Evelyn, and Julian entered the old Sterling estate.

They found the basement.

Behind a hidden wall was a safe.

Inside was the letter.

Evelyn opened it.

Her mother's handwriting filled the page.

Evelyn, if you're reading this, Richard has already discovered the truth.

Her hands trembled.

Then she read the final sentence.

Trust no one—not even the man you love.

Evelyn slowly looked at Dante.
