Chapter 8 - The Truth Unveiled

Two security guards stepped into my path, their hands moving toward their jackets.

"Step aside," an authoritative voice commanded from behind me.

Special Agent Miller and four armed federal marshals pushed past the hotel guards, badges held high. "Federal officers. Nobody moves, and nobody touches the stage."

Gasps erupted across the room. Several high-profile investors scrambled out of their chairs as camera shutters fired in a frantic, blinding rhythm.

Harold Vance's face turned the color of ash, but he forced a booming, indignant laugh. "What is the meaning of this theatrical nonsense? Adrian, control your wife!"

"She isn't his wife anymore," I said, mounting the steps of the stage.

I took the handheld microphone from the podium and turned to face the hundreds of journalists and shareholders.

"For six years, Adrian Vale was manipulated into believing that Marcus Keller died performing an act of heroism on Blackwood Pass," I said, my voice steady, resonant, and lethal. "He was made to pay millions of dollars in restitution to Serena Keller to assuage an engineered guilt."

"Turn off the sound system!" Harold screamed toward the AV booth, his composure entirely shattered. "Cut the feeds!"

"Too late, Harold," I said, pointing toward the massive projector screens hanging above the stage.

Instead of the corporate promotional reel, the screens lit up with forensic bank statements, signed wire authorizations, and mechanical sabotage reports bearing Harold Vance’s digital signature.

"The funds drawn from Adrian’s personal accounts never paid for medical treatments," I declared. "They were funneled directly into Hydra Logistics—a shell corporation registered to Harold Vance, used to systematically bleed Vale Global dry while setting up Marcus Keller's staged crash."

Serena took a step back, her eyes darting toward the side exits. "Adrian... don't listen to her! She’s trying to destroy your father’s company! She’s jealous of me!"

"Jealous of what, Serena?" I turned to face her, taking a slow step forward. "Jealous of a woman who lived off the blood money paid to her father to commit murder? Jealous of a woman who pretended her heart was failing while she spent half a million dollars a year in Monaco?"

"You have no proof!" Serena shrieked, her voice losing every trace of its frail softness.

"Dr. Rebecca Collins woke up from surgery three hours ago," I said calmly. "And she gave her full deposition to the Department of Justice."

Serena stumbled back.

Agent Miller stepped onto the stage, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. "Harold Vance, Serena Keller, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, corporate embezzlement, wire fraud, and witness tampering."

Harold lunged toward the contract on the podium, trying to sweep the documents into his arms, but two federal marshals pinned him to the floor, forcing his arms behind his back.

Serena turned to Adrian, tears of pure hysteria streaming down her face. "Adrian! Please! Tell them! Tell them who I am! You promised my father you would protect me!"

Adrian stood frozen, looking down at her as if looking at a venomous snake that had finally shed its skin.

"I promised to protect Marcus Keller's daughter," Adrian said, his voice a low, guttural whisper that carried over the dead silence of the room. "I never promised to protect his accomplice."

The marshals clicked the cuffs around Serena's wrists and dragged her off the stage, her screams echoing down the marble hallway.
