Chapter 10 - A Home Built From Ashes

Six months later, the Moretti estate no longer resembled a cold fortress.
Warm amber light streamed through opened French doors leading out onto a sun-drenched terrace. Bright flowerbeds bloomed along the limestone pathways, and the sound of soft acoustic music filled the grand foyer where silence had once reigned supreme.
Falcone's network had been systematically dismantled, and the traitorous elements were erased forever. Peace had settled over Brooklyn.
On the front lawn, four-year-old Leo sprinted happily across the manicured grass, kicking a soccer ball toward Dante, who laughed loudly—a sound once impossible within the compound walls.
Clara stood by the marble balustrade, wearing a simple cream sundress, watching the boy thrive. Gentle footsteps approached behind her. Strong, warm arms circled her waist, pulling her back against a broad, familiar chest.
Rico rested his chin lightly on her shoulder, kissing the curve of her neck. "He hasn't stopped smiling all morning," he murmured softly.
"Because he knows he's safe now," Clara replied, turning in his embrace to wrap her arms around his neck, smiling up into his relaxed, handsome face.
Rico reached into his pocket and produced a small velvet box. Inside sat an exquisite ring crowned with an emerald diamond, shimmering brightly in the midday sun.
"You gave my son his life back, Clara," Rico said, his deep voice thick with quiet devotion. "And you saved me from my own darkness. I don't want an employee. I want a partner, a mother for Leo, and the queen of this house. Marry me."
Tears of pure happiness welled in Clara’s eyes. She leaned up and pressed her lips to his, sealing a promise born out of tragedy and cemented by unbreakable love.
