Chapter 72

Elena sat by Dominic’s bedside through the entire night, refusing to leave even when he weakly urged her to sleep. The next morning, all four sons—Max having rushed back from Florence—gathered in the master bedroom, their faces heavy with solemn worry. Dominic looked at each of them, a weak, reassuring smile touching his lips. "Don't look at me like I'm already in a coffin," Dominic rasped, his voice gravelly. "I survived Boston, New York, and Geneva. A little heart trouble isn't going to get rid of me that easily."

Chapter 73True to his word, Dominic focused on recovery, though slowing down proved to be the hardest battle of his life. Elena became his fierce warden, confiscating his work tablets, restricting his phone calls, and dragging him out onto the terrace for long, leisurely walks along the clifftop. Surrounded by his wife and sons, Dominic finally learned the true luxury of stillness.
