Chapter 1 - THE $100 MILLION CHALLENGE

"Fix This and I'll Give You $100M," CEO Sneered - The Waitress Did, and He Froze in Shock!
“Fix this, and I’ll give you $100 million.”
The moment Daniel Sterling said it, the restaurant went silent.
At the center of the luxurious dining hall stood the 38-year-old CEO of Sterling Advanced Systems, beside a machine that had just failed in front of some of the most important investors of his career.
His engineers had spent 6 months trying to solve the problem.
Consultants had charged millions.
Specialists from 3 countries had already declared the system beyond repair.
And now Daniel was looking at a tired waitress holding a tray of coffee and laughing as though the idea of her solving the problem was absurd.
He had no idea that the woman standing in front of him was about to change his company, his future, and the way he judged people forever.
The evening had begun like any other busy night at the Grand Meridian Hotel.
Crystal chandeliers reflected across polished floors. Soft music drifted through the restaurant. Wealthy guests sat around tables covered in white linen and expensive silverware.
But upstairs, inside a private conference room, Daniel had just watched what could have been the biggest business opportunity of his life begin to collapse.
Sterling Advanced Systems had spent years developing a revolutionary energy management system designed to make large industrial buildings dramatically more efficient.
Hundreds of millions of dollars had gone into the technology.
Investors had gathered at the hotel because Daniel planned to demonstrate the final prototype before signing a massive international agreement.
Then the machine was switched on.
Almost immediately, something went wrong.
The system began producing unstable readings.
Warning lights flashed.
The central processor overheated.
The demonstration had to be stopped.
Daniel stared at the screen as though refusing to accept what he was seeing.
His chief engineer blamed a software synchronization problem.
Another specialist blamed the sensors.
A 3rd insisted the prototype’s control board was defective.
Daniel had heard enough.
He had built his reputation on solving impossible problems. He hated excuses, delays, and especially public failure.
His investors were already leaving the conference room when he noticed something unusual on the monitor.
1 line of data was moving differently from all the others.
The irregularity was tiny.
Most people would never have noticed it.
But Daniel had spent years studying systems like this one. He knew something was wrong.
He simply could not identify the cause.
Frustrated, he left the conference room and went downstairs to the restaurant, where his staff had arranged dinner for the investors.
He barely noticed the people around him.
His mind remained trapped inside the failed machine.
That was when Maya Carter approached his table.
Maya was 26 years old and worked 2 jobs to support herself and her younger brother, Ethan.
During the day, she worked part-time at a small electronics repair shop.
At night, she waited tables at the Grand Meridian.
Her uniform was simple.
Her shoes were worn.
Her hands sometimes carried tiny scratches from repairing old electronic devices after work.
Almost no one at the hotel knew that Maya had once wanted to become an engineer.
Years earlier, she had earned a scholarship to a prestigious university.
Then her mother became seriously ill.
Everything changed.
Maya left school to help care for her family.
After her mother died, Maya became responsible for Ethan, who was still a teenager.
Her dream of becoming an engineer had not disappeared.
It had simply been pushed deep inside her, behind rent, food, bills, and responsibility.
That night, Maya was carrying a tray past Daniel’s table when she noticed the tablet in his hand.
